Star maps are almost as old as humanity. There are inscriptions describing the position of stars and constellations in Egyptian temples, on Babylonian stones, and in Chinese calendars from thousands of years ago.
Around 500 BC, Greek philosophers had begun to map the sky in a similar way to those that exist today , by making careful and repeated observations of the positions and motions of the stars and
the planets.
Together with the talented illustrator Alexis Pérez, this Illustrated Celestial Map was developed. It was spectacular!
Mythological characters, stories, constellations and imaginary lines come together in this illustrated celestial map that seeks to show not only the most important constellations of the ancient world, but also also show the brightest stars of each of these iconic figures from classical mythology.
Each illustration was made by hand. This map has the traditional colors of classical culture, giving it a renewed aesthetic but at the same time maintaining the essence of ancient celestial maps.
