About the process, the author says:
"The map was born from my love for Chile, its sea and its marine world, I love the Islands and to think that they are alone in the middle of the sea, full of underwater life.
I started watching documentaries and reading many scientific documents, where they talked about how special our insular sea was, unique in the world, that's where I learned the importance of endemic species and the infinite number that existed on these islands. I started painting fish and now, after 2 years, I continue painting with the hope of producing a book on the endemic fish of insular Chile in order to publicize and share what I have been learning so that we love and preserve our sea so valued."
