In Chile, stamps have been an important tool for disseminating culture and national heritage. Since their first issue in 1853, Chilean stamps have featured a wide variety of designs and themes, such as historical figures, landscapes, flora and fauna, sports, art, among others.
These stamps have been created by prominent Chilean artists and designers, such as Alfredo Helsby, Carlos González, Samuel Román, among others, who have captured their talent and creativity on them. Some Chilean stamps have been internationally recognized for their quality and originality, such as the Pablo Neruda stamp series issued in 2004, which won the prize for best design at the World Philatelic Exhibition in Granada in 2005.
