An incredible map is added to our collection. Tremendous work by the national illustrator Gabriela Germain, who tells us about her process:

"My only climbing experience happened a few years ago, when I climbed up to the crater of the Navidad cone of the Lonquimay volcano, located in the Malalcahuello National Reserve. But I have been lucky enough to meet real mountaineers, the kind that vibrate at the summit and for that they train They study, travel, learn and then record, relate and treasure their experiences forever.
When I found out that I would make a map of mountains, volcanoes and mountain ranges in Chile, I immediately thought of them. For this reason, one of my first decisions was to have them all, which represented a tremendous challenge, considering the dimensions of the drawing.
It also seemed important to me to incorporate some indications about populated areas, flora, lakes, salt flats, ice fields and certain referential data such as the location of National Parks and Reserves and some important cities.
To do so, I searched for information on the web and had to superimpose several maps, rescued from each one, different types of data with which I made a first sketch, which was the basis for the final illustration.
Hopefully this map will be a good tool for mountain lovers to talk about their exploits."
