She tells us about the process: "We used the existing information on the different breeds of dogs that have developed around the world and I added quilters for each continent; why? What moved me to make a map of dogs is not the origin of the races (that is part of the theory that supports what you will see in this world map), but the inspiration is in the bond that we have created with these four-legged beings.
We have spent centuries building ties with dogs, entrusting them with work, health, safety, affection and support; making them part of our society, and more deeply our family. Dogs are a fundamental part of our lives and this map seeks to honor that.
It was a long job, on the map you can see a composition of 94 canine faces , all different made one by one from reference photos. To do it, I selected the 94 dogs and made a collage with the chosen images. Then I drew them as a sketch and then I started the light and shadow work.
