A wonderful map of the city of Antofagasta in the year 1923, which delicately covers each block of it at the time.
It must be remembered that the city came from a tremendous economic and industrial boom due to saltpeter , as well as beautiful monuments donated by foreign colonies, which made Antofagasta one of the most developed cities in the region. With the world wars, the technological advance on synthetic saltpeter and the Great Depression, this boom was stopped. Copper and mining development by the government and private, would make the city once again the center of mining development for decades.
In this Plan we can see the numbered blocks, the works that were carried out, public buildings and important topographical lines. You can also see the advertising bands of the time, where the Hans Frey Photographic House and the Gran Hotel Español stand out , icons of those past years.
